Game Boyes

I found my old Game Boy Advance the other day, and now that I'm finished classes I'm looking forward to getting some games for it.  Unfortunately, I misplaced my original Game Boy (with my Tetris) :(

But with the Nintendo DS out right now, I should be able to pick up some GBA games on the cheap (in theory at least).  I'll be picking up Mario & Luigi:  Superstar Saga, a game that earned a 9.1 rating on Gamespot.com for $28.  I've also re-opened my Civilization addiction, which I also plan to enjoy during my break.

One thing I have to work on is making NES and SNES rom discs with emulators for my Dreamcast.  Heather wants to learn about video games, and although I can play them on my PC, it really isn't the same unless you're sitting on the floor in front of the TV, controller in hand.

EDIT:  My mini-reveiw of Snakes on a Plane in the BBspot mailbag:  http://www.bbspot.com/News/2006/08/mailbag_20060823.html

Currently Gaming: Sid Meier's Civilization IV

To the Futuremobile!

This is a really neat car that comes from Brazil - the Obvio 828.

The neat thing about it is that it can run on 100% gasoline, 100% ethanol, or any combination of the two. The base model starts at $14,000USD and you get a 115hp engine in, get this, a 600kg car. You can also get a 170hp version, or if you're crazy, a 200hp version. 200hp IN A 600KG CAR! That's nuts!

For more info, you can click here.

Also, I should be studying but I'm not really feeling motivated. I've read through most of the links that our teacher posted, but I dunno, I guess I'll see tomorrow how I do.

Several Things

First of all, it was an amazing football game between the BC Lions and the Deadmonton Eskimoes last night (lol I said Deadmonton not Edmonton I'm funny). Backup QB Buck Pierce played a solid game for the Lions overall (he was a lot better in the 1st half tho), and Corey Banks and Barron Miles scored two defensive TDs for the Leos. But it was the end of the game that proved, as Chuck Yeager said in Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, that its better to be lucky than good any day of the week. With under a minute left in the game the score is 30 - 28 for BC. BC punts the ball, Edmonton recovers on their own 30. Ricky Ray makes a huge pass downfield and puts Edmonton in field goal range. 17 seconds left on 2nd down, and Edmonton runs down the clock a bit and tries for a field goal. The centre snaps the ball to the handler and.....he drops it. They desperately try to get the ball to the kicker, but time ran out and a BC player (Dante Marsh I believe) pounced on the ball, and it was game over. If I hadn't have been there I wouldn't have believed it. And that's why I never leave early from a game. Good crowd out at the dome tonight too, over 33,000. For a recap of the game, click here.

Secondly, I'm going to be seeing Snakes on a Plane tonight, and I can hardly wait.

Thirdly,

And fourthly, I learned about the city of Centralia, PA thanks to somethingawful's ALOD. It's truly a fascinating and tragic story of a once thriving community that was ravaged by an underground coal fire. This was the town that inspired the movie version of Silent Hill. Interesting Call + Funny Pics + Happy Birthday

The great thing about my job as a field tech is the variety of locations I get to go to, such as cement plants and gay sex shops. Today however, I got to go to Canadian Linen Supply, an industrial laundry. They supply linens and uniforms to hotels, hospitals, mechanics, etc. and I got to go help install some new computers on the prodution floor. In the soiled area (that's where the dirtiest stuff gets cleaned). It was hideously humid, it stank, and the computers I took out were covered in brown stuff. Also, a bag full of laundry flew past overhead on a rail and dripped water on me. I choose to believe that the water was clean.

Back in the day, my dad used to work there on the production floor. He had to take salt tablets during his shift to keep from becoming dehydrated. He worked there for about a year when one day we was taking the bus to work, saw the office, and decided to stay on the bus. He never looked back and I don't blame him for a second. He's a pretty tough guy to have worked there in those conditions for a year.

I think that every week around this time I will post a funny picture that I find on these Internets. BEHOLD!

Now that's what I call a communist party!

And I must wish a very happy 28th birthday to my not-quite-brother-in-law-yet Brian!
